Keeping too many email in the server can cause Email Quota issue.
If a few large email is send to your account can also cause this issue.

To resolve this do the following:

1. Open email application in your computer and find the setting that says "Keep email in server"
2. Uncheck the setting, so that email that is read will not be kept in the server.
3. Now do a read email so that email that has been downloaded in your Email program will be removed from the server and the quota will be back to normal
