Changing Outgoing Server Port to 587

Apple Mail Email (OSX)

  • Open Apple Mail.
  • Select Mail Preference on the top menu bar
  • Select Accounts Tab.
  • Select the Email Accounts of the left hand side list.
  • At the Account Information Tab of that Email Account, select Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) list and select Edit SMTP Server List.
  • In the drop down window, select Advanced tab.
  • Check the Use custom port, change the port to 587.
  • Select OK
  • Exit the Preference windows and save setting

Office Outlook Email (Win7,8)

  • Open Office Outlook email application.
  • Select Tools->"Email Accounts" to open the "Email Accounts" dialog window.

  • Select the Email account to modify by double clicking on the email name on the list.
  • In "Internet E-mail Settings (POP3)" windows, select "More Settings"
  • Select the "Advanced" Tab
  • Look for the box with the number '25' correspond to "Outgoing server (SMTP)"
  • Change 25 to 587. Click 'apply' and 'ok' to save the change.
  • Back in "Internet Email Setting (POP3)" select Next to finish the setup.

Outlook Express Email (WinXP)

  • Open email account property (Tools > Accounts > Select "Mail" tab > Double click the email account to edit)
  • Select "Advanced" Tab
  • Look for the box with the number '25' that corresponds to 'Outgoing server (SMTP)'
  • Change 25 to 587. Click 'apply' and 'ok' to save the change.
  • The rest of the settings should remain unchanged.
